Recycling plant catches fire in east Houston

HOUSTON – Authorities are investigating a heavy fire at a recycling plant along Wallisville Road near Wayside Drive Monday night.

Firefighters arrived in the area within five minutes and found heavy fire at Derichebourg Recycling USA.

It took a little while to find access and establish water supply, however, the firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within an hour.

Most of the material in the area that burned was scrap metal.

Fire crews remained at scene to cool everything off.

HFD hazmat crews monitored the air quality but did not find any hazard.
