Suspect killed after running over deputy during chase in north Houston

HOUSTON – A Precinct 1 Deputy Constable is recovering in the hospital after he was run over by a suspect during chase in north Houston Wednesday night.

The 34-year-old deputy was rushed to the Memorial Hermann Hospital via helicopter.

According to Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen, a call was made to the law enforcement around 10:00 p.m. to look out for an SUV that just committed a traffic offense.

A short time later, the deputies spotted that SUV going the wrong way down the Hardy Toll Road.

When the deputies tried to pull him over, he led them on a 20-minute chase. The pursuit ended in the 1200 block of Mitchell Road after the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a house.

When a deputy tried to make contact with the suspect, he ran over the deputy.

Four Precinct 1 deputies and an HPD officer discharged their weapon, killing the suspect on the spot.

No one else was hurt in the incident.
