‘Espionage Book’, ‘Old People’s App’ – new corporate names suggested for Facebook

As reports emerged that Facebook is about to introduce a new corporate name, citizens from around the world offered on Wednesday (October 20) their suggestions for a name that would reflect the changing nature of the social media company.

“Old People’s App”, “Espionage Book” and “Facetagram” were among the names suggested by residents and visitors in Rome, Berlin, Moscow, Paris, Glasgow and Hong Kong.

Facebook Inc, under fire from regulators and lawmakers over its business practices, is planning to rebrand itself with a new group name that focuses on the US technology website the Verge reported on Tuesday (October 19).

The move would likely position the Facebook flagship app as one of many products under a parent company overseeing brands such as Instagram and WhatsApp, according to the report.

Facebook said it does not comment on “rumour or speculation.”

The name change will be announced next week, The Verge reported, citing a source with direct knowledge of the matter.
