Pakistani cricket fans staged wild celebrations after their team demolished India in the Twenty20 World Cup in Dubai on Sunday (October 24).
Pakistan captain Babar Azam led by example as his side beat their traditional rivals in a World Cup match for the first time in history with a 10-wicket victory in the competition’s Super 12 stage.
After India’s Virat Kohli played a captain’s knock of 57 to rescue his team from a top-order wobble they posted a competitive 151-7 in a rematch of the inaugural 2007 final.
But his counterpart Babar and Mohammad Rizwan overwhelmed the target without loss with 13 balls to spare to end India’s 100% win record against them in limited-overs World Cups.
The victory sparked noisy celebrations among fans back home in cricket-mad Pakistan.
