Woman killed as stolen big rig crashes into home in NW Harris County

HOUSTON – A woman was killed and suspect has been taken into custody after a stolen big rig crashed into a home on Mckinley Street early Tuesday.

Police initially received a call for an auto-theft at 14700 sommermeyer from a local trucking company. 

The company was able to track the 18-wheeler and the patrol officers arrived at that location around 12:20 a.m.

Responding patrol unit spotted the 18-wheeler while the suspect was still inside. 

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the suspect did not stop and travelled down Mckinley Street.

At that time, the suspect bailed out of the moving vehicle and the big rig crashed into a mobile home. 

According to police, there were four people inside the home. Two remained uninjured and a man got trapped beneath the gas tank of the truck. He was moved to the hospital with some major injuries.

Police also confirmed death of a woman in the incident. 

The suspect was taken into custody and was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
