Officer injured in pursuit of catalytic converter thieves in SW Houston

HOUSTON – A Houston police officer is in the hospital after he got injured while chasing a group of catalytic convertor thieves in southwest Houston early Friday. 

According to HPD, undercover officers found the suspects stealing catalytic convertors in a city yard near Bingle and Highway 290.

The suspects fled as the officers attempted to stop them. 

After a short pursuit, the suspects eventually stopped at Beechnut and 59 where they attempted to flee on foot.

All three were taken into custody, but an officer was clipped by a patrol vehicle, injuring his knee.

Five catalytic convertors were also recovered from the bed of the truck.
