House fire kills man, dog in Third Ward

HOUSTON – One person and the family dog were killed after a house caught fire in Third Ward Tuesday night. 

The fire was reported in the 3400 block of Nagle near Holman Street. 

Houston Fire Department (HFD) crews arrived at the location and found a single-family residence with smoke coming from the home.

Firefighters mounted an aggressive fire attack, and during their search of the house, two people and a dog were found inside.

One person and the dog were pronounced deceased at the scene while the second person was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Arson units are working to determine reason behind the fire.
