Former U.S. First Lady Melania Trump is auctioning a white hat she wore during a 2018 state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as a watercolour painting and its digital version of her wearing the accessory.
The online auction runs until January 25, with an opening bid equivalent of $250,000, according to a statement from her office.
Trump asked American designer Herve Pierre to make the white broad-brimmed hat to match a suit she wore for Macron and his wife Brigitte’s visit to Washington. Pierre served as Trump’s stylist during her husband Donald Trump’s presidency.
The former First Lady is also auctioning a watercolour on paper of her in the hat by French artist Marc-Antoine Coulon as well as a digital artwork non-fungible token of his painting.
Both of the artworks are signed by Trump and Coulon. Trump, who has drawn some criticism for the sale, has also signed the hat.
