Several residents displaced after apartment fire in Galleria area

HOUSTON – Several residents were displaced after heavy fire engulfed an apartment complex in the Galleria area Thursday night.

According to authorities, over 50 to 60 apartment units were evacuated in the 3000 block of Greenridge Drive.

The Houston Fire Department tweeted about the fire shortly before 9 pm and the blaze was tapped out approximately at 10:30 pm. More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze as heavy winds were complicating the firefight.

Officials said many of those displaced residents were taken to warming centers.
