Off-duty officer stabbed in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – A suspect is on the run after an off-duty officer was stabbed in southeast Houston Wednesday night.

According to police, the Surfside PD officer entered a subway to eat. He noticed a male exposing himself to patrons and employees and attempted to take him into custody.

A physical altercation ensued, and the male suspect began stabbing the officer in the leg. The suspect then fled the scene.
The officer was transported to a nearby trauma center where he is expected to survive.

Investigation is underway.
