Tornados and heavy storms whipped through the Southeast states of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi on Wednesday (March 30), destroying houses and damaging buildings.
At least three tornados struck central Alabama overnight, downing trees, damaging buildings, and turning over a mobile home with at least one person temporarily trapped inside.
Local officials in St. Tammany Parish Louisiana, which lies across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans, and Calhoun County, Mississippi, also reported seeing tornados.
Heavy winds and rain damaged houses and trees, and left residents without power.
