Suspected drunk driver kills couple in Galleria area

HOUSTON – A tragic situation unfolded Sunday night in the Galleria area after a husband and wife were killed by a suspected drunk driver.

The fatal crash happened in the 6100 block of Westheimer around 9:30 pm.

Houston police and HFD crews arrived at the location and found a male and a female down in the lanes.

The female was dismembered by the impact of the crash.

Investigators believe that the car was traveling at least double the speed limit at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle remained at scene, and showed signs of intoxication.

Both pedestrians were not in a crosswalk when they were hit, police told.
