Ukrainian soldiers said they captured Russian tanks and destroyed a convoy on Wednesday (March 9) in the city of Brovary, near Kyiv.
One of the tanks, left behind by Russian forces, was confiscated, repaired and taken to use in the field, military personnel said.
The soldiers, showed a damaged APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) to press crews in the area on Thursday (March 10), together with items taken out of the vehicle, including a Russian soldier ID, Russian military t-shirts and sleeping bags.
“So a column was moving towards Kyiv. The column was big. The ambush was organized. We destroyed the head of the column. Our information is that heading the column there was a commander of the sixth tank regiment which was destroyed. The soldiers worked the ambush just perfectly”, an unidentified Ukrainian soldier told Reuters.
According to Ukrainian military staff on the scene the Ukrainian forces lost 3 vehicles and 30 soldiers in the ambush.
