Man found dead following vacant house fire near Heights

HOUSTON – A man was found deceased after a fire at a vacant house near the Heights neighborhood early Tuesday.
The incident was reported before 1 a.m. in the 1100 block of W. 19th Street.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found a single-story vacant house with heavy fire showing. The residence appeared to not have any power connected. The building was secured by security bars on the windows and the doors were secured.

Firefighters had to make forced entry into the structure where they discovered a deceased individual inside a room.
Cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
