HOUSTON – Police have detained a suspect after a high-speed chase on Southwest Freeway Wednesday morning.
It all started around 2:20 am when an HPD unit noticed a vehicle exiting the wrong way through a drive thru ATM near Westheimer Road and Eldridge Parkway.
The HPD officers then started to follow the vehicle and it ended up coming back stolen. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspect failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
An HPD sergeant was able to deploy spike strips on the suspect’s vehicle getting all four tires but the suspect continued fleeing from the officers southbound on the Southwest Freeway.
After a while, all four tires came off and the suspect continued riding on the rims. One rim fell off during the pursuit and that’s when the suspect stopped near Sugar Creek Boulevard and was taken into custody.
