The United Kingdom’s London Mayor Sadiq Khan was with New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Monday (May 9) in New York to promote tourism in London as Khan’s city recovers from the pandemic.
Adams introduced Khan as “the rock star of mayors.”
Khan started his five-day tour of the U.S. in New York.
During the press conference, Adams announced the signing of the C40 Good Food Cities Declaration.
C40 is a network of almost 100 of the world’s biggest cities working to slow climate change. Khan is the chair.
“We’re committing to a future with city dwellers having access to sustainable, nutritious and delicious food, and that as little as possible will go to waste. That’s crucial for our environment,” said Adams.
Khan welcomed Adams signing the declaration.
“You’ve been trying to explain to New Yorkers, as we’ve tried to do in London, the connection between what we eat in relation to our personal well-being and the planet,” he said. “I’m unashamedly banging the drum for London, banging the drum for Americans to come to our great city as tourists, as students, to invest, to do business and vice versa.”
After his visit to New York, Khan will continue to travel to other cities such as San Francisco and Los Angeles.
